It is important to make sure that the legal deposit legislation covers of all kinds of published material, such materials are produced in multiple copies and are offered to the general public irrespective of its means of transportation , so as to discriminate from the archival(it basically refers to the records which are either of government or corporate etc., are not available for the distribution of it to the public and is private in nature) \u00a0It should also be kept in mind that public distribution could mean \u201cperformance of work\u201d or \u201cdisplay of work\u201d. For instance, a television program could be regarded as \u201cpublished\u201d for legal deposit purposes when it has been broadcast. Electronic publications environment should note that a \u201cone copy item,\u201d such as a database stored on one server, could be a subject to legal deposit requirement since it is available to the public through a technology sanctioning the public to read, hear or view the material.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Steps to Obtain Copyright<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>The steps for registration of a copyright are as follows:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<strong>a)<\/strong>\u00a0Application for <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.legalraasta.com\/copyright-registration\/\">copyright registration<\/a><\/strong> is to be made on Form IV as described in the first schedule to the rules<br \/>\n<strong>b)<\/strong>\u00a0Separate applications should be made for registration of every single work<br \/>\n<strong>c)<\/strong>\u00a0Each application should be accompanied by the same amount of fee as prescribed in the second schedule to the Rules<br \/>\n<strong>d)<\/strong>\u00a0The applications should be signed by the applicant or the advocate in whose favor Power of Attorney has been executed. The Power of Attorney which is signed by the party and agreed by the advocate should also be registered.<\/p>\n<p><strong>e)<\/strong>The fee should be either in the form of Demand Draft or Indian Postal Order favoring the &#8220;Registrar of Copyright\u201d Payable at New Delhi or through online payment<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Registering your work under the Copyright Act, 1957 in India<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The copyright office has been set up to provide registration facilities to all types of works and is headed by a Registrar of Copyrights and is located at 4<sup>th<\/sup> Floor Jeevan Deep Building, New Delhi-110001. The applications for registration of works can be filled at the counter provided at the copyright office from 2:30 P.M TO 4:40 P.M from Monday to Friday. The applications are also accepted by post.
