The rules basically stipulate the provisions for companies to accept deposits from the public.<\/p>\n<p><strong>As per Section 2(31), <\/strong><em>\u201c<\/em>Deposit\u201d includes any receipt of money by way of deposit or loan or in any other form by a company, but does not include such categories of amount as may be prescribed in consultation with the Reserve Bank of India; You can gain detailed knowledge of what constitutes as a deposit by following <a href=\"http:\/\/ebook.mca.gov.in\/Childwindow1.aspx?pageid=18773&amp;type=RU&amp;ChildTitle=Chapter%20V%20The%20Companies%20(Acceptance%20of%20Deposits)%20Rules,%202014\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">MCA e-book Acceptance of Deposit rules<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Acceptance_of_Deposits_Rule_Where_is_it_applicable\"><\/span><strong>Acceptance of Deposits Rule: Where is it applicable?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The acceptance of deposits rule is applicable for &#8220;eligible&#8221; companies. Eligible companies are companies(Public Companies Only):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have a net worth of Rs. 100 crores or more OR<\/li>\n<li>Have a net Turnover of Rs. 500 crores<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The eligible companies also have to fulfill three conditions to be eligible for a loan.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Prior consent of company in general meeting by SR<\/li>\n<li>Filing the SR to the registrar before making any sort of initiations<\/li>\n<li>If the proposed deposit turns out to be less than the net worth of the company OR can be filed to obtain consent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Amendments_to_Acceptance_of_Deposits_Rule\"><\/span><strong>Amendments to Acceptance of Deposits Rule<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In a notification released on the 5th of July, 2018 the Ministry made sweeping amendments to the rules for acceptance of deposits.
