After 2 years, she changed her organization. She continued using her old PF account without closing it even though she got shifted to a new company.<\/p>\n<p>While considering the two case studies, Priya has taken the right decision of continuing with the previous PF account even though she changes to many firms. Switching from one job to another within a year or two is common these days. A lot of working people these days change companies or organizations often in the quest for a better paycheque and career opportunities. To amend such issues the legislature introduced Universal Account Number, in short UAN which is a unique 12-digit account number given to the EPF members.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"UAN_Activation\"><\/span><b>UAN Activation\u00a0<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Every EPFO member is allotted a UAN which is generally specified on the salary slip. For the activation of UAN, the member should go to the EPFO unified number portal at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in\/memberinterface\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in\/memberinterface\/<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and click on the tab \u201cActivate UAN\u201d. by filling the UAN, name, date of birth, and mobile number, an authorization PIN will be generated. The UAN will be activated once the PIN is entered and authenticated.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Merging_Accounts\"><\/span><b>Merging Accounts<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For merging two existing EPFO accounts, the member should visit the EPFO website and under the \u201cServices\u201d tab, choose the \u201cOne employee &#8211; One EPF account\u201d button.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Details\"><\/span><b>Details<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now when clicking on the link, a form will appear for consolidating multiple EPF accounts. Next, he\/she should enter his mobile number that is registered on the UAN portal. Further, UAN and current member ID must be entered. After submitting these details, an OPT will be sent to the registered mobile number for authentication.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Merging_of_Accounts\"><\/span><b>Merging of Accounts<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After you enter the OTP, a page will appear on which you have to enter your old PF account details for the merger. Once you fill in your old PF account number and accept the declaration and submit the form, the request for the merger of the accounts to the existing PF account will be sent to EPFO.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Points_To_Note\"><\/span><strong>Points To Note<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The account merging facility is available three days after activation of the UAN.<\/li>\n<li>To take benefit of this service, the member is required to have his KYC and Aadhaar details updated and registered with the EPFO.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Steps_to_Merge_Two_EPF_Accounts_into_One\"><\/span><b>Steps to Merge Two EPF Accounts into One<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The person should offer the KYC which needs verification of PAN, Voter ID, Bank Account, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The person should have a UAN, and it must be linked to your existing EPF account.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is necessary to wait for at least three days after activation of UAN before merging EPF accounts.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Consolidating_two_EPFO_Accounts_into_one_EPF_Account_Using_UAN_Online\"><\/span><b>Consolidating two EPFO Accounts into one EPF Account Using UAN Online<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Go and visit the EPFO website.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Choose the option of \u201cServices\u201d.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Then click on the One Employee and One EPF Account Link.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After selecting the One EPF account link, you will receive one window on the screen where the employee has to enter the details such as UAN, phone number, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After filling in the details click Generate OTP, you will get an OTP on your registered mobile number.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The procedure that is mentioned above can be followed by the individual, as it is quite easy to do by self. An alternative way to follow this is by submitting the claim either through his\/her current employer or the organization the person has quit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Merging two EPF accounts is simple and guarantees that you have one combined account. Due to the passing of the Aadhar Act, 2016 (26th March 2016), EPFO is currently looking to make Aadhar, the requisite address proof.
