The act has been one of the pioneering legislations to develop uniform standards of weights and measures all over the country. Even before the enactment of the act, the use of weights and measures was there without uniformity. In the background, there was a huge potential for discrepancies in the very commercial transaction.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, the 1956 Act introduced a well-regulated platform making the traders have to agree on standardized weights and measures.
