Requirements for Individuals to register on Income Tax Portal
Before going for the registration on the income tax portal, you have to first ensure that you are having the following details.
- Valid PAN
- Valid Mobile Number
- Valid Current Address
- Valid Email Address of your own
Any Minor, lunatic or an idiot and those who are barred by the Indian Contract Act, 1872 are incompetent to register on the income tax portal.
Procedure of income tax login
Go to the homepage of the government portal to access the Income-tax departmental portal login page and there you will see a box on the right side that has a “Login here ” button for registered users.
As soon as you click on that button, you will reach to the login page where you have to enter in your username and income tax login password.
Remember that the user ID for the income tax login will be your PAN Card number.
Procedure of registering on Income Tax Department Website
There are certain steps that need to be followed:
Go to the Income-tax department portal. There you will find an option of “Register yourself” on the right-hand-side of the homepage.
Here, on this page, you need to choose the type of the user. As soon as you click on that button, you will be given options through the drop-down from where you have to select your user type.
Now, enter the basic details of yours.
There are some details in the registration form which are compulsory:
- Password details
- Contact details
- Current address
Once, the details are filled, click the submit button.
After all the above steps, a 6-digit One Time Password (OTP) will be sent to you on the mobile number and e-mail ID that you provided earlier in the form. All you need to do is enter that OTP number correctly to verify the details successfully.
One thing that must be taken care of is, in the case of non-residents, the OTP will only be sent on the registered E-mail address.
Please note that the OTP will expire after 24 hours from the actual time of receipt. Therefore, the registration procedure will also be expired. If in case, you fail to complete the registration procedure within the given 24 hours then the entire registration must be initiated again.
