APEDA- Meaning

APEDA stands for Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) is an export promotion organization under Ministry of Commerce and Industries, Government of India. It is meant for the responsibility of promotion and development of the export of its scheduled products. APEDA was established in 1985 as a government organization. Apart from this, APEDA registration provides information, financial assistance, and guidelines for the development of scheduled products as well as achieve various functions that have been undertaken by this body under the regulation of central government.

Several rules and regulations are laid down by the central government and further implementation of this body is also taking place for the efficient administration of APEDA Act.

Note: Scheduled products are those products which are specified under the APEDA Act whereas exporters of such scheduled products are required to register under APEDA.

For what responsibility APEDA is mandated?

Functions of APEDA

Following are the functions of APEDA authority:

  • Standard setting and specifications for the scheduled products.
  • Promote export production and development of the scheduled products.
  • Register the exporters of the scheduled products on payment of required fees.
  • Enhance the marketing and packaging of the scheduled products.
  • Conduct an inspection of products for the aim of ensuring the quality of such products.
  • Provide training in several aspects of industries connected with the scheduled products.
  • Develop industries regarding the scheduled products, feasibility studies, and undertaking surveys etc.
  • Collects statistics from the owners of factories and publication of such statistics.

  1. An Application duly signed.
  2. A Copy of Import-Export code issued by D.G.F.T.
  3. Certificate of Bank duly signed by the authorities

4. Statement of Bank A/c. of the firm (for the latest 2 months)

Benefits of APEDA Registration

Following are the benefits of APEDA registration:

  1. It is only a one-time compulsory registration by the exporters of scheduled products mainly of agriculture and processes food products.
  2. It makes possible for the registered exporter to apply for financial assistance schemes of APEDA.
  3. It encourages the registered members to participate in training programmes organized in various aspects of the Industries for scheduled products.
  4. Provide help to the exporters in branding through various advertisements, database up-gradation, packaging, and surveys etc.
  5. It gives the guidelines to the exporters about the various products and countries for export.

Online Procedure of APEDA Registration

You need to follow the following steps to get your registration:

STEP 1. Log on to the APEDA website and click on Register as Member link on the homepage.

STEP 2.  Now, enter the basic details, Email ID, IE CODE, and mobile number then submit.

STEP 3. You will receive a One-time password (OTP) on your Email and given mobile number for confirming the details. All you need to do is enter that OPT of mobile and email on the verification screen to verify the both and click on submit to proceed further for an application.

STEP 4. Once the verification gets done, you will require to fill the online application and upload the required documents given above. Please, make sure that your documents should be in JPEG, PDF or PNG formats only. Enter all the required information very carefully and re-check it after doing this all.

STEP 5. Actually, online application can be completed in one or more sessions by revisiting the website using the assigned OTP of Email and mobile. As soon as you are done with filing the fields, save the information in between by using the save button. So that you can edit the filled data until online payment is not made.

STEP 6. You can submit payment by any of the following modes:

         ♣ Online

  • Credit Card (Master Card and Visa)
  • Debit Card (Master Card and Visa)

Offline

  • Demand Draft in favor of APEDA payable at respective cities of APEDA offices.

STEP 7. Once the payment procedure has completed, an application number will be generated. Kindly, save the application number somewhere for future reference.

STEP 8. Login detail will be sent to your registered Email ID on the issuance of RCMC. Now, you can log in to your account through “Exporter Login” link anytime given at APEDA website.

STEP 9. Through this all, you can now see the status of the RCMC application by clicking the Track application link to view the status of your application by submitting the IE CODE and application number until it is issued.

STEP 10. If you find any shortcoming in the application, then you will require to re-submit the document online. Hence, you need to monitor the status of the RCMC application as informed above.
