DPCC office or Delhi Pollution Control Committee is a self-governing body that was established by the Delhi Government under the guidance of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). It was set up on 1^st June 1991 and the powers of CPCB has been delegated to DPCC.

The main aim of DPCC is to create awareness about sustainable development by ensuring improvement in the “environment quality” of the National Capital Region.

DPCC office in the making

The Head Office of DPCC office is designed by M: OFA Studios, New Delhi. It was commissioned through a design competition, houses about 200 officials, scientists & a devoted workforce. The whole team is responsible for making & implementing policies, research and formulating norms for keeping India’s capital pollution-free.

The importance of this office in a greater context is accepting the purpose of contributing towards a high standard of living for the people of Delhi state.

The parameters for the core design of DPCC head building were the understanding of the purpose and sustainability in the Indian context. The design of the building is such that it would act as an ‘Urban Sponge’, which would feed on polluted air and water of its microclimate and gives out clean air & water back to the environment. Just like the Aquatic sponge which feeds on bacteria and gives out nutrients and oxygen.

The final design of the building is shaped by multiple layers of philosophy, technology, vision, and function. This building will host a permanent exhibition on Green Technologies and Innovations as an awareness drive in its Plaza and Exhibition Center for the people to learn, percolate the information, implement and through Osmosis benefit the social fabric ultimately.
